1961

As Europe booms, demand for technical translation grows. A copywriter sets up Tek Translation and International Print Ltd in London - using in-country translators and third-party checking to produce translation as good as the English original.

1964

Demand for accurate typesetting in foreign languages drives Tek to open Tek Typesetting - inhouse typesetting and proofreading by qualified nationals. Business grows, and Tek expands from Western Europe to Eastern Europe and the Nordics.

1966

With huge infrastructure contracts across the USSR, Tek builds a Russian team. Projects like the Urengoy Pipeline remain a vital part of Russia's economy to this day.

1970

Years before Nixon, Tek reaches out to China. Its Hong Kong office provides translation solutions to exhibitors at four National Exhibitions.

1977

With petrodollars redrawing the economic map, Tek adds Arabic and Farsi solutions; further energy clients lead to openings in Houston and New York. Tek's expertise now spans 50 languages.

1984

Technology reaches the desktop, and Tek's end-to-end IT documentation service attracts IBM and Apple. It also puts DTP to work for the motor industry - from America's GM to Sweden's Volvo.

1988

As the IT sector grows rapidly, TekSoft launches to add software localization and QA testing to its multilingual documentation services.

1989

Tek Espana SA in Madrid starts servicing customers needing Spanish and Portuguese in Europe and the Americas.

1992

With the Single European Market a reality, offices open in Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Darmstadt and Stockholm. All focus on localization for ERP and Life Sciences.

1997

Ireland emerges as the center of software localization - and Tek's Dublin office is there with software engineering and localization expertise.

2000

Globalization is the new century's cover story, leading Tek to streamline its operations and consolidate at its OneWorld Localization Center in Madrid. One methodology, one point of contact, and one team of localization experts, working with in-country translators worldwide.

2001

A new CEO moves Tek towards process and technology. Client-focused Account Groups deliver large volumes of high quality translation particularly to the Life Sciences sector, meeting strict regulatory requirements.To further streamline and centralize communication, Tek Project Web is launched for worldwide project reporting online.

2003

The global economic boom drives Tek to gain ISO quality certification, strengthen its management team, and invest further in technology to manage workflow. Tek's Collaboration Portal expands ProjectWeb into a fully interactive support system.

2006

With Knowledge Management a hot topic, Tek consolidates QA tools, TM tools, Style Guides and Enterprise Terminology Management Solution as the Linguistic Engineering Department, offering a standardized, quality-assured service.

2007

In a connected global economy, Tek's new online and On-Demand Globalization Platform integrates BI reporting with customers' internal processes, making Tek a strategic partner. The “Follow the Sun” strategy results in a new OneWorld Globalization Center for the Americas: Rio de Janeiro. Translation solutions are now available round the clock.

2008

With cost control and productivity on every manager's mind, Tek focusses on optimized business solutions for global customers - specializing in Life Sciences, IT and manufacturing. Business and Solutions Development teams in the US and Europe expand, supported by Vertical Specific Business Units in Madrid, Rio and (soon) Beijing. From industry experts in every time zone to ISO quality standards covering 65 languages to our on-demand collaborative platform, Tek’s OneWorld Globalization Solution enables higher ROI when localizing products for sale to global markets.

2009

The link between the OneWorld Platform, Tek’s online project management system, and SAP ERP system further enables Tek to operate globally without the need for multiple operational and administrative centers worldwide. By linking all departments in the company to the platform Tek has been able to streamline administrative, project management activities, financial business management and BI reporting to reduce cost and improve productivity and real time project status information.

The deployment of Tek’s new Language Quality Assurance (LQA) and Language Quality Checker (LQC) systems highly improve the predictability of quality delivered to our clients.
